Driving a truck and being away from loved ones may put a damper on the ebb and flow of life that others seem to take for granted.  Although everyone from time to time may struggle with this, it seems that over-the-road-drivers may encounter this more often.  Absence from friends and family requires putting more effort into communication and connection.

Healthy love, it is so important that it can change our lives and the lives of others.  Everyone wants to love and be loved, yet so many struggle with this endeavor.

Some people may or may not realize that there is a fine line between healthy and unhealthy self-love.  There are those who are obviously in love with themselves to the point of loving or caring about no one else.  Then there are those who are completely selfless and do so much for others that they neglect themselves.

The most beneficial direction for the sake of everyone is loving ourselves with our heart in the right place.  We have to nurture ourselves so that we are capable of doing for others with the intention of the highest good of all.  Then we will be able to give of ourselves and be a benefit to others.

If we all made it a point to examine self for the good of others, where would we be as a society?

A Look into New Year’s Resolutions

2017

New Year’s resolutions are funny things.  The beginning of the year is like this magical time that we wait for, to do what we have been wanting to do for a long time.  Some of us ponder all year about what we want to do in the New Year.  Then we finally narrow down what is really necessary to be done and make a pact.  I am going to ______________ as soon as the New Year gets here.

Some common resolutions are: to lose weight, get fit, eat right, quit smoking, make more money, get out of debt, learn something new, spend more time with loved ones, and travel.

Do we REALLY want these things?  Of course we do.  Then why do so many resolutions never come to fruition?  Why don’t we always follow through with the plans that we make?

The answer to this question is a simple one, but not always an easy one.  As we live in this world, all kinds of ideas and beliefs enter our minds from many different sources, some that we accept and some that we don’t.  Some of these ideas turn into beliefs.  When we accept them they become habits that are replayed in our minds as facts.

Examples:

Everyone in my family has a weight problem.  I’ll always have one.

I’ll never be able to make that much money.

I don’t deserve to be happy.

It always has been this way and it always will.

 

Where these beliefs came from doesn’t matter.  What matters is that you don’t believe them.  It is VERY likely that they are just not true. So the answer to the question is, if you will change your beliefs you will change your world.  If you believe you can do it, you can.  Don’t limit yourself because of false ideas that you have accepted as true.  You can make that New Year’s resolution come true.  Start adding positive true statements to your belief system.  Think of them several times a day.  Visualize them as reality.  Figure out what it is going to take to make it happen.

Truck Drivers, if you don’t read anything else today, read this!!!

Thomas Edison once said, “Five percent of the people think; ten percent of the people think they think; and the other eighty-five percent would rather die than think.”  Think about this truck drivers.  Really, THINK about this!!!

Drivers, you have more “thinking” time than most other professionals.  Because of this, I know there are more than 5% of you that truly think.  You are above the averages.  The challenge is that maybe you just don’t have the tools to make it happen.  You’ve got these GREAT ideas that are just living in your head.  Let them out!

Is it a product, a relationship decision, a health decision, a job idea to make more money, something that could help another truck driver or knowing a way to improve your lifestyle?  What is it?

Your paradigm is what’s holding you back.  Our paradigms are thoughts planted in our mind.  Some of them might be helping you to get ahead and some of them might be keeping you from what you want out of life.

Examples of these kinds of thoughts.

I couldn’t do that.

I just don’t have time.

Well, maybe someday.

Examine these thoughts and ask these questions.

Are they reality?

Are you too ______ to do what you want?

Does _________need to happen before you can________?

We all have the resources that we need, to do what we desire.  What is it that you want to accomplish?

Do you REALLY want to reach this target?  I can show you proven methods that will get you there.  It’s up to you.

Why should we choose hemp?

Some say that hemp seeds are the most nutritious seed in the world.

Hemp seeds are incredibly high in magnesium, which makes them a very good food to help reduce stress and anxiety.
They are very high in protein and amino acids. If you are starting to drag down midday, try popping some in your mouth.
Hemp seeds are also high in many vitamins and nutrients such as:

B vitamins – heart, bones, vision, skin, and brain and more
Vitamin E – vision, hormones, breasts, muscles, skin and more
Zinc – immunity, energy, cells, pancreas, liver, vision, etc.
Iron – brain, temperature regulator, muscle function, oxygenation, etc.
Healthy fats – Monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats

How do I use hemp seeds?

First of all, they require being put in the refrigerator or freezer. I usually put mine in the freezer. My favorite ways to eat hemp seeds are to put it in a smoothie (along with chia) or sprinkle them on my salad. Hemp seeds taste a little like finely chopped walnuts but with less flavor.

The ideas for using hemp seed are limitless – or you could sprinkle them on your desert, vegetables, or soup, etc.

By the way, I accidentally got hemp powder one time. Yes it is the same food in another form. Let’s just say that I won’t make that mistake again. It didn’t have a good flavor like the seeds.

Why is sauerkraut healthy for you?

Sauerkraut is one of many cheap and all-natural ways to add to your gut health. If you haven’t heard how very important your gut health is, here is a link to a radio program that I am in with Donna Smith with some great gut health info: Blog Talk Radio
So, how is sauerkraut going to help your gut? As you may know, it is just fermented cabbage. The fermentation process not only preserves but creates a probiotic world. All fermented foods are full of live cultures that are very beneficial to our gut health which affects our overall health. And our gut health is directly connected with emotional health.  How is this?  We have more neurons in our gut than in our spine. So if our gut is not in mint condition it makes total sense that our emotions will be compromised.
Unless you make fermented food yourself or you buy it unprocessed at a health food store, it has been canned. Canning heats it to temperatures high enough to kill the probiotics. To get all the benefits possible, these probiotics must be live. We need huge quantities in our gut to maintain healthy bodies. According to The Smithsonian Institute, we have about 37.2 trillion human cells. We have 10 times more than that of microbes, beneficial bacteria, that live in us. WOW! That’s really hard to imagine, isn’t it?
A friend recently gave me a huge amount of cabbage from his garden to make sauerkraut. I have attempted this process a few times before with little success. In the past, I have used canning jars to ferment in because it is what I had available. Fermenting sources said that it would work.  Well, it probably does, but so far for me it didn’t. So this last time I borrowed a crock to ferment in and voila, it worked like a charm!  I don’t know if it was the crock or just finally a successful attempt. Either way, I have a ton of yummy kraut full of beneficial bacteria in my fridge just waiting to populate my belly with the good stuff that I need to stay healthy.
My 82-year-old friend let me borrow a recipe book that was probably close to her age.  I found a link that is very close to that recipe. It does recommend mason jars which would probably be easier to make and take in a truck. By the way, I think the jar failure was just me. Now you can try it yourself and have a very cost effective and beneficial yummy food to make on the road and on your own.

Another way to get beneficial bacteria is kombucha.  Kombucha is a delicious drink made out of tea that is chock full of health benefits.  I am in the process of making some now and I will update you on my success (or failure).  So stay tuned.

Professional drivers have challenging lives.  How can I help?
A truck driver’s wife, home school mom, colon hydro-therapist, health and wellness coach, and lover of truth! What do these things have in common????  Me! Hi, I am Carolyn and I have a never-ending passion and gratitude to serve the fine people in the trucking industries of this world!
I want to welcome you to stay informed about the challenges that face truck drivers; in particular, the reality of professional driver’s lives, their health and families and the many issues that they routinely face and overcome.
Of course there are the obvious trucking challenges such as heavy traffic, wind, rain, snow and ice. But there are many other difficult hoops and hurdles these road warriors deal with on a daily basis that are unique to their profession. It requires a set of skills, and determination and is by no means a job for the faint at heart!
To me, truck drivers are highways unsung heroes who may have been unfairly judged, misinformed, and stereotyped.  I hope to tap into the avalanche of misinformation concerning the drivers who make good things happen in a real BIG & AWESOME way!
